Toxic Heavy Metals in Your Favorite Chocolate and Drinks!

When you read the ingredients on the label of a food product, you probably won’t see “lead”, “cadmium”, or “arsenic” listed as ingredients. Unfortunately, more and more studies and researchers are finding toxic heavy metals like lead, cadmium, and arsenic in foods and drinks that we consume every day.

Toxic Heavy Metals in Dark Chocolate

Reading this study made me mad, but it shed light on what was going on with the lead toxicity in my body.

Giselle Aguiar, Natural Medicine and Detox Patient

Giselle first came to Natural Medicine and Detox wanting to lose weight. She’d plateaued and was stuck. After getting a heavy metals lab test done, we discovered that she had high levels of lead and cadmium, among other toxic heavy metals, in her system. Subsequently, she went through 20 chelation therapy IV treatments and retook the test. All the levels of heavy metals went down except lead!

“You must still be ingesting lead.” Dr. Fontes immediately told her.

We were all stumped. Little did we know that Giselle was indeed still ingesting lead in her favorite dark chocolate bar!

Isn’t dark chocolate good for you?

Yes, it is. Chocolate — especially dark chocolate — helps the body absorb iron. If you’ve ever been anemic or been turned down to donate blood, like Giselle has, a way to fix it is to have a high-iron-rich meal with a “dark chocolate chaser”. That was Giselle’s health habit for the last few years. Little did she know that the dark chocolate that she was ingesting daily to help her body absorb a good mineral was also poisoning her.

Then she came across this article from Consumer Reports...

Consumer Reports found dangerous heavy metals in chocolate from Hershey’s, Theo, Trader Joe’s, and other popular brands. Here are the ones that had the most, and some that are safer.

Lead and Cadmium Could Be in Your Dark Chocolate

The Heavy Metals Haven’t Gone Away

This recent video cites the Consumer Reports’ article, and it seems the problem hasn’t gone away.

No wonder her lead levels increased instead of decreasing after her chelation treatment! She was still ingesting lead!

Not Just in Chocolate, but in Your Favorite Drinks…

Toxic heavy metals are EVERYWHERE!

Researchers at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, found toxic metals such as arsenic and cadmium in all 60 store-bought drinks they tested…

…Scientists fear that virtually every single person has been exposed and that there will be severe long-term health consequences….

…Five drinks were identified as dangerous, though. These had levels of the metals found to be higher than what Government regulators would allow for drinking water.

These included: one fruit juice; one mixed juice; one plant-based milk; one soda; and one tea. The fruit juice and mixed juice products contained elevated levels of boron, cadmium, strontium, arsenic and selenium. The milk had elevated levels of nickel, boron, cadmium, strontium and arsenic.

In the soda, there were elevated levels of nickel, cadmium, strontium, arsenic and selenium. Finally, the tea was high in all seven of the chemicals: nickel, boron, cadmium, strontium, arsenic and selenium.

Daily Mail UK

Unfortunately, the report didn’t name the drinks’ brands. Therein lies our problem.

Long-term exposure is the issue…

Naturally, enjoying one or two of these occasionally will not poison you. It’s the long-term ingestion of these toxic heavy metals that is the problem.

Some adverse health effects that can arise from toxic heavy metal poisoning:

  • Asthma
  • Autism
  • Deficits in attention
  • High blood pressure
  • Memory, learning, and IQ
  • Parkinson’s
  • Infertility
  • Shortened lactation
  • Endometriosis
  • Genital malformation
  • Peripheral nerve damage
  • Dysfunctional immune systems…

So, if you regularly consume these products — and have been for a while, here’s what you need to do…

  1. Schedule an appointment with us for a Heavy Metal Test – based on those findings, Dr. Fontes will determine your chelation therapy treatments.
  2. Review the food and drink products that you are consuming and switch to organic or all-natural products as much as possible. Though, according to the video, even organic products had lead in them. The products pick up heavy metals during processing and manufacturing. Therefore, go for fresh, raw foods or research what you are buying.
  3. If you still have lead and some heavy metals after chelation treatment — since it’s almost impossible to remove toxins 100% from your world — we recommend doing regular detoxing treatments like ionic foot baths, colonics, and infrared sauna.

What steps can I take if I suspect heavy metal poisoning from my diet?

You should schedule a heavy metal test with a healthcare provider, review and switch to organic or natural foods, and consider detoxing treatments like ionic foot baths, colonics, and infrared sauna sessions to reduce toxin levels.

Why was dark chocolate a problem for a patient despite it being healthy?

Although dark chocolate helps the body absorb iron, her favorite brand was found to contain dangerous levels of lead, which contributed to her increased lead levels despite her health goals.
